My AQ course for reading part 1 at Trent, required me to create an annotated guide for resources that I found that helps teachers with Science of Reading/Structured Literacy. I really enjoyed creating this resource and I wanted to share it with my teacher friends also. I hope that you find it helpful. Would love to hear what you liked best. ![]()

This is an activity that I've done a few times with students I work with individually (which makes it easier to have the student follow the instructions), and I tried it with a grade 2/3 class just this week and it was a huge success. *be sure to be very specific about the instructions and do not leave anyone behind or confused (this is key to all students completing the activity). When they are done, they are all so amazed and proud of their creation! I made this video to share it with parents and teachers who expressed an interest when I shared it on Facebook. I am also taking an additional qualification course in reading part 1 through Trent University right now and ironically the day after I shared this activity on facebook, I found out that I am required to come up with a lesson plan that:
This video shares the major portion of the lesson, but a few other parts of the lesson will be included in my assignment that I don't share here. This video was simply to show how to create these cool booklets (not only to be used for the magic e concept). I hope that you enjoy. Please leave me a comment if you gave it a go. I'd love to hear! Helpful resources for you to use at home (grade 1-8 for math, language, science and social studies.
Also grade 9-12 (multiple subjects) https://tvolearn.com/ I found this great article that can help us help our children with reading and comprehension. Check it out:
https://www.scholastic.com/parents/books-and-reading/reading-resources/language-and-literacy-milestones/6th-grade-readinghelp-your-child-excel-reading.html You may also appreciate this page that shares multiple apps recommended by an Orton-Gillingham training organization. https://journal.imse.com/reading-theres-an-app-for-that-here-are-imses-favorite-literacy-based-apps/ Does your child have difficulty with these two letters? Do they often get one mixed up with the other? It is okay, this is quite common and you may find these strategies helpful as you do your best to help your child become a master at creating their b when it is a bee when they want to spell or a d when it is a dog they want to spell. Click on the 3 pdf documents below to see the strategies that may work for your child. On Nov 9th I found this additional resource that you can download for free from All About Learning that will also help with letter reversals or mix ups.
