Pre-reader program

 and Tara will provide one on one sessions (in person @ Ms. Tara's home or online as requested)

This is a beginner reading program to help children:

• print letters (upper and lowercase)
• identify the names and sounds of letters (verbally and auditory)
• isolate the first, middle and ending sound in words (through photos and decoding of words)
• begin to read using VCV (vowel, consonant, vowel) and spell using the basic sounds of the alphabet
  • the program will be unique to your child based on their needs and strengths (after initial assessment)
  • all new students to this program will be assessed during the first session to obtain their level of mastery (60-80 minutes, if this is too long, we can break up into 30 minute sessions until completed - all for the price of one full assessment session)
  • subsequent sessions will be 30-45 mins (as your child can handle)
  • This program will be offered to groups for a reduction in cost upon request (pre-school program)

• Tara is trained in Orton-Gillingham and she is a certified teacher so she has had the opportunity to incorporate materials and resources that have been successful to help children learn letter sounds for the 26 letters of the alphabet. Once a child has fully mastered the alphabet sounds, we will move onto level 1 (which is very extensive) as they learn consonant blends, digraphs, vowel teams and so much more.

 

• Due to the nature of one on one sessions, this program is limited to only a few students. If this course shows the enroll button below, she still has space left available (otherwise it will show as wait list, fill out the form anyway, because we have a 2nd option that isn't personalized but still beneficial.)
• Depending on need and availability, this can be 1-3 times per week.
• Dates, times and frequency of sessions will be scheduled in advance each week (based on your schedule and Tara's)

• When your child has mastered this level, I highly encourage continuing with the program called Creating Confident Readers. This program allows for mastery of 108 sound combinations in the English Language (using a variety of letters/blends, beyond the basic letters of the alphabet)
• This program is HST exempt

*Initial session is for multiple assessments that Tara will complete in order to see where to begin and to allow her to personalize next sessions. 1st one lasts from 60-90 minutes.
*if 75-90 minutes is too long for your child, I can break down the initial assessment into 2-3 smaller sessions

**Included in this fee is a gift, and a personal folder including the resources your child will use at home to practice and in person when in session with Tara
